A 16 km long elevated stretch
has been built in Pench Tiger Reserve and it is located south of the tiger
reserve area in Madhya Pradesh. And it is India’s first and
largest road stretch where such wildlife-friendly mitigation measures have been
used on such a scale and studied.

According to a study
by the Wildlife Institute of India, usage of these underpasses by tigers has
increased by 127%. They are also used by 20 other species including wild
elephants, spotted deer, gaur, nilgai, and the rare rusty spotted cat.
