Bodoland Movement and its contribution towards developing Bodo language status

Bodoland G.K: Bodo is a Tibeto-Burman language spoken by Bodo people of North-Eastern India and Nepal.It is  rich language ,it has to its credit large number of books from various genre starting from Poetry,Drama,short story ,novel,biography,travelogue,children’s literature and literary criticism. As a result of Bodoland Movement for the language status of the Bodo language,it was introduced as the medium of instruction(1963) in the primary schools in Bodo dominated areas. Now,Bodo language is the medium of instruction up to secondary level.It is even introduced as a PG course at the University level.

Bodo language is officially written in the Devanagri script,although it has a history of using Roman Script .Some reasearchers even claimed that,originally it has its own script known as Deodhai.Bodo Language shares some common features with Dimasa language of Assam & Garo language of Meghalaya.
Bodo language has been included  in the Eighth Schedule as  a 22nd official language in 2003.
