Special Coverage: (Photography)”Phantom” is a photograph made in 2013 by Australian-born landscape photographer Peter Lik. Which was sold for $6.5 million (approx Rs. 41 crores ) to a private collector in print in 2014 making it world most expensive photograph ever sold. The buyer remains anonymous .It is known that it was sold independently not in auction or in a gallery.
“Phantom” is a black and white derivative of Lik's previous color image titled "Ghost", and was produced as a unique print. ("Ghost" was produced in an edition of 950 with an additional 45 artist's proofs.) Both images depict a ghost-like figure within a cavern at Antelope Canyon, Arizona.Earlier Gursky’s photographer sold for over USD 4 million(approx Rs.25 Crores) like that of Lik. It has caused controversy.
