International Nurses’s Day (Story behind this Day)



Special Coverage: (Article) International Nurses’ Day is celebrated in the memory of Florance Nightingale nick name, ‘the Lady with the lamp’ in 12 May as a birth Anniversary each year.

She is regarded as the founder of modern nursing. She was the daughter  of a well-to-do family  in England.She was born in Florance,Italy on 12 May 1820.At the age of 12, she decided to  look after sick people and she used her spare time in developing skills nursing from books.

During the Crimean war, she look after many injured, sick people in a Hospital along with 38 nurses.Her efforts, saved thousands of lives.During night, she would visit  the sick and the injured, carrying a lamp.By this ,she came to be known as ‘The Lady with the lamp’
