India’s Groundwater Going Down official Statistics Shows



Environment NEWS:  Since the introduction of deep farewells technology in the early 1970s, India’s ground water table too has increasingly gone down across all the states.


Official statistics show that due to the increasing population the national per cita annual availability of water has gone down from 1,816 cubic metres in 2001 to 1,544 cubic metres in 2011, a whopping 15 per cent reduction. Rainfall is the major source for water setting as surface water, part of which then seeps through to form groundwater.
