Age of the Universe

The current estimate of the age of  the universe is about 13 billion years. The 60 odd years following Hubble's original  findings have seen numerous revisions of the constant. HST's main purpose was the measurement of the Hubble constant.

The Hubble's constant as measured by the space telescope was on the high side implying a rather young universe - also depending on what theoretical mode is accepted.

Scientists say the universe could be just 8 billion years old if the Hubble constant is precisely 80.
