Assam's first solid waste management project has been
inaugurated by Union Minister Rameswar Teli in the Thakurthan area at Lekai.
This area is located on the outskirts of Dibrugarh.

On this note, Union Minister Rameswar Teli said this way,
"It is a historic day for the people of Dibrugarh as the first solid waste
management project in Assam has been inaugurated in the district. For a long
time, the residents had been facing a lot of problems due to the unavailability
of proper garbage disposal unit."
