What is Great Pacific Garbage Patch ?

The Great Pacific garbage patch (also Pacific trash vortex) is a garbage patch, a gyre of marine debris particles, in the central North Pacific Ocean. It is located roughly from 135°W to 155°W and 35°N to 42°N.[1] The collection of plastic and floating trash originates from the Pacific Rim, including countries in AsiaNorth America, and South America.[2] The gyre is divided into two areas, the "Eastern Garbage Patch" between Hawaii and California, and the "Western Garbage Patch" extending eastward from Japan to the Hawaiian Islands.

Where we are heading?

A report published by a world Economic Forum (WEF) has revealed horrifying consequences that are going to happen in near future if not stop in time. In the report, it was highlighted that every year at least 8 million tonnes of plastics is  leak into the ocean, which is equivalent to dumping the contents of one garbage truck into the ocean every minute.

It is also has been estimated by researchers that presently there are over 150 million tones of plastics in the ocean.

If it does not stop than - there will be more plastics in the ocean by 2050 than fish.
