In a major push for youth employment, Assam
Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced on Wednesday that 3,000 young men
and women from the state will be trained in the Japanese language to help them
secure jobs in Japanese companies, both in Japan and within India.
The training will be conducted under the Chief Minister’s Foreign Language Initiative for Global Human Talent (CMFLIGHT) scheme. The announcement was made during a press conference in Dibrugarh.
Why Japanese Language Training?
The move comes after discussions during the
Advantage Assam summit, where three Japanese companies showed interest in
hiring skilled workers from Assam.
High Salaries: Workers placed in Japan can
earn up to ₹2.5 lakh per month.
Job Options in India: Those who prefer not to move abroad can still work in Japanese companies operating in India.
How Will the Training Work?
1. Cost: The full training cost per student is
estimated at ₹3-3.5 lakh.
2. Government Support: The Assam government will
provide a scholarship of ₹1.5 lakh per student.
3. Bank Loans: The remaining amount can be covered through bank loans arranged under the scheme.
Benefits for Assam’s Youth
CM Sarma said the programme will open new job opportunities and boost skill development. The scheme was approved in the state cabinet meeting after being proposed during the Advantage Assam event.
What’s Next?
Training under the CMFLIGHT scheme will begin
soon, with the first batch of 3,000 students. This initiative is part of
Assam’s larger plan to prepare its youth for global job markets.
This move could be a game-changer for Assam’s
employment landscape, offering high-paying careers both internationally and
within India.
