Bodo Groups has submitted memorandum to Centre, Renewing Call for Bodoland Statehood and Land Rights Protection
A joint delegation of Bodo organizations has approached the Union Law and Justice Minister with key demands for the indigenous Bodo community. The delegation included representatives from:
1. All Bodo Ex-Volunteer Force Organization
2. All India Bodo People's National League for Bodoland Statehood
3. United Tribal Organization of Assam (UTOA)
Key Demands Presented:
1. Creation of a separate Bodoland state
2. Granting Scheduled Tribe (Hills) status to the Bodo people in Karbi Anglong
3. Formation of a dedicated Bodo Regiment in the Indian Army
4. Global protection and security for the Bodo indigenous people
Additional Concerns Raised by UTOA:
1. Opposed illegal allotment of tribal lands to non-indigenous communities and private companies
2. Called it a violation of constitutional safeguards
3. Chapter X of Assam Land and Revenue Regulation Act, 1886
The organizations have also sent reminder letters about these
long-pending demands to:
1.Prime Minister's Office (PMO)
2. Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA)
The memorandum submission took place on Wednesday, keeping alive
the decades-old demand for Bodoland statehood and other rights for the Bodo
community.
