Assam’s Hemanta Daimary won gold for the state in the 71 kg junior category at the Commonwealth Weightlifting Championships. He delivered a stellar performance, lifting 118 kg in the snatch and 146 kg in the clean & jerk for a 264 kg total.

The event was held from August 24 to 30, 2025, at Ahmedabad’s Naranpura Sports Complex, featuring around 350 lifters from 29 countries.

Five weightlifters from Assam represented India:

1.Hemanta Daimary (71 kg)

2.Bedabrat Bharali (19 kg category, details previously mentioned)

3.Bhavna Gogoi (58 kg)

4.Dharmajyoti Deoghariya (56 kg)

5. Abhinob Gogoi (71 kg)
