Assam’s Hemanta Daimary won gold for the state
in the 71 kg junior category at the Commonwealth Weightlifting Championships.
He delivered a stellar performance, lifting 118 kg in the snatch and 146 kg in
the clean & jerk for a 264 kg total.
The event was held from August 24 to 30, 2025,
at Ahmedabad’s Naranpura Sports Complex, featuring around 350 lifters from 29
countries.
