In a major breakthrough, Morigaon Police’s tireless three-month
investigation led to the recovery of ₹93 lakh stolen by cybercriminals. The
funds were handed back to Piyush Kanti Dey, Managing Director of Jagiroad-based
Progressive Fertilisers Private Limited, who praised the police for their swift
action.
The fraud unfolded when scammers impersonated Dey and manipulated
his accountant into transferring ₹96 lakh from the company account. While most
of the amount has been retrieved, authorities continue probing to dismantle the
wider scam network behind the crime.
Police reaffirmed their commitment to combating cyber fraud and
urged businesses to stay alert against such sophisticated scams. The case
remains under active investigation.
