I had a cool chat with Danny Jongdao Basumatary one of the organizer of the show via Whatsapp—

Is this your first festival I mean UWC (Udalguri Winter Carnival)?

Danny: Yes..This is the first edition of Udalguri Winter Carnival

It is actually an endeavor to promote local talent and promote tourism in our place

Who sponsored this show?

Danny: For starters this time we didn’t have much sponsors but “Galaxy roofing Sheets” was our title sponsor, also SKM production and few other well-wishers.

Did you guys contact any media house to cover up your show? And also who were the members and creator of this fest?

Danny: We didn’t have anyone to cover the event as such but Hadwt Baglari did some awesome photography and video. We are mainly three of us which includes me, Rajiv Daimari and Barudangsha Basumatary.

So did you guys hired? Him

Danny: But of course Jwngsar Narjary of Lwihwr Studio helped us a lot in getting the lineups for the concert.

“He is more like our brand so to say * Brand ambassador”

Are you guys? Satisfied with your first Udalguri Winter Carnival festival?

Danny: We are more than satisfied. The crowd response was awesome. And the place looked beautiful for a change.

We started with lighting the streets with lights

Anything else more about the show

Danny: And I was amazed by the talents of the guys who came to help us with the wall paintings we had done around the venue...It was done wonderfully. I hope you saw the pictures.

As we are not only trying to promote music here..We are also trying to promote art

What’s the name of that guy?

Danny: Emanual Daimary,Franky,Thangkhi and some of their friends did the artwork. Whereas Arup Kr. Basumatary did the stage design.

What’s your next plan after this?

Danny: This year was just to test ourselves of how capable we are. Next year we are planning it on a bigger scale with more social media promotion and hope to attract participants from another part of the nation as well.

                    We hope to..Fingers crossed.

Do you feel BTC( Bodoland Territorial Council) region are not getting less coverage in terms of festivals by the media? How many attended this UWC Fest? And what should be the remedy you feel and think?

Danny: I don’t think so..we need to market ourselves in a more aggressive manner. We had a pretty warm crowd of around 250 for the last day.

So, it was 2 days show? Right

Danny: It was a three-day event

What were the activities in the fest? Please elaborate

Danny: It was a food and music festival. So we had food stalls for food lovers and few game stalls like basketball, dart and air gun target shooting. The music started in the evening from around 6. We are planning to include day events for next year. And since it is to promote music and art talents we will have workshops on music, art, and photography.

At last! What you had learned from the show and what need to be improved you feel and also any messages to your fans or to anyone…

Danny:  This event actually taught me a lot of things. To start with I learned that there is abundant talent in BTAD and it just needs to be nurtured and developed. And that nothing is impossible as long as you are surrounded by good friends.
