Interview: Bodoland(India) region is seeing a sharp rise in the Hip Hop artists in the recent year’s rappers like Jim Belekin of Chopper Blades and Nezy Brahma of Tribal Squad has able to earn some name for themselves on a small scale. Recently, Jim Belekin of Chopper Blades and Nezy Brahma and B Town Kid of Tribal Squad collaborated with a California-based rapper SMG (Witta Z) for a song call 'Get It' .Perhaps this would be the first time from this region local rappers collaborating with the International rapper. Below is a chat with Nezy Brahma of Tribal Squad via Facebook.
How the idea of collaboration with International artist did come up?
Nezy Brahma : Basically it’s not an idea that we came up with, you can call it approaching talents that we endure in a person , mind like our's a genuine representation of the Hip Hop culture across the globe in our way and that we found in him (Jay WittaZ) it’s not leveling up ourselves but we just don't collaboration with anyone abroad if he or she lacks the real DNA of Hip Hop but by this I want to state without this guy "Suju Bogey" who is our current manager helped us yield this talented rapper which we are really thankful.
Can we hope for more collaboration like this in future?
Nezy Brahma : Of course we are coming in hot with more collaboration overseas. It’s a journey for us and we will keep doing what we are doing.
Please tell something about the song ‘Get It’
Nezy Brahma : Well there’s more to it if you just go by the title "get it" we threw our soul into this game of Hip Hop we seek reality we rap about things that the world shows theirs both ugly and beautiful site to it but mostly we want to spread positive message to the viewers despite the MV , some might get it wrong but we just want to define realness
This song get it , it’s about seeking for what u are really standing up to well many men many minds u can relate your own way if you go deep through it..Well get it do it fight for it and do what's need to be done, never step down after all life is a game.
In the end, How does it feels..Sharing a space with an international rapper?
Nezy Brahma : It’s not like a great achievement or something it's actually about sharing the culture of Hip Hop overseas which is a big thing for us coming from an underrated place like ours but what I want to quote is "knowledge never ends" collaborating with someone abroad makes us learn more, the exchange of culture is what I'm stating as I've said above, in fact, it’s just a start and we will be boosting ourselves to mend with the game abroad.
