Mark Zuckerberg sues Mark Zuckerberg after Facebook keeps banning him

An Indiana-based lawyer named Mark S. Zuckerberg is suing Meta after the company repeatedly suspended his Facebook account for alleged impersonation. The lawyer, who has practiced bankruptcy law for nearly 38 years, claims his profile has been wrongfully blocked five times over the past eight years, with the platform accusing him of pretending to be someone else.

According to a lawsuit filed in Marion Superior Court, these suspensions have damaged his professional practice and resulted in thousands of dollars in lost business. He asserts that Meta broke its own terms by removing paid advertisements worth approximately $11,000 (Rs 8.2 lakh). Zuckerberg likened the experience to paying for a highway billboard only to have it covered up, denying him the benefits of his investment.

Despite providing extensive proof of his identity—including photo IDs, credit cards, and personal photos—the attorney says his appeals were ignored for months. “I’m Mark Steven. And he’s Mark Elliot,” he clarified, noting that his name predates the tech billionaire’s rise to fame.

His most recent suspension occurred in May of this year. The account was restored only after he filed the lawsuit. Meta acknowledged the error, stating his account was “disabled in error” and has been reinstated. The company expressed appreciation for his patience and stated it is working to prevent future incidents.

Zuckerberg, however, emphasizes the tangible impact on his livelihood: “It’s not funny. Not when they take my money.” He has even created a website documenting mix-ups related to his name, including a case where he was mistakenly sued by the state of Washington. The situation highlights potential flaws in Facebook’s automated systems, particularly for users who share names with public figures. An Indiana-based attorney named Mark S.
